This post looks at some strange correlations between the works of Zecharia Sitchin and the Scriptures of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons and their believed prophet Joseph Smith).
Zecharia Sitchin is an alternate historian convinced that the cradle of civilization, Sumeria is where man first was allowed to begin to administrate for himself. The ages preceding this, men were merely the serfs of Gods or aliens and the biggest name in the Pantheon of Gods was Marduk. The pantheon of Gods went through several ages during which they moved from Mesopotamia, Israel, Egypt, Africa and eventually South and North America.
Sitchin relates the exodus to the American Continents as the introduction of Quetzalcoatl into the social environment. Quetzalcoatl is the spirit of purity.
This is where the similarities between Sitchin and the Joseph Smith Mormon texts become apparent.
In LDS theology we are introduced to the planet Kolob in chapter 3 of The Book of Abraham.
3:3 - And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
Then in Abraham 3:16 - If two things exist and there be one above the other, there shall be greater things above them; therefore Kolob is the greatest of all the Kokaubeam that thou hast seen, because it is the nearest unto me.
Then in Abraham 5:13 - But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the time that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. Now, I, Abraham, saw that it was after the Lord's time, which was after the time of Kolob, for as yet the Gods had not appointed unto Adam his reckoning.
Sitchin however refers to the orbit of Nibiru around the Sun is 3600 years therefore one year on Nibiru is like 3600 years on earth.
Abraham was a prophet and the father of Lot and was the servant of the Gods or the oracle of the Gods according to Sitchin. This is the same Abraham that the LDS sacred texts talk of.
The Mormon sacred text states that Joseph Smith found the gold tablets which contained the book of Mormon in New York and those tablets were brought and buried there by the last Nephite called Moroni. This Moroni buried the plates there knowing that the war between the Nephites and the Lamanites, was about to come to an end with the annihilation of the Nephites. This was in the fifth or sixth century AD.
Sitchin claims that during a political conflict in the time of Babylon and old Egypt or thereabouts one of the Gods was exiled or escaped to the New World. This he refers to the introduction of Quetzalcoatl into the New World. As a member of the pantheon within Sitchin's studies this God would have been Thoth, taken to be Quetzalcoatl by the inhabitants.
Thoth of course was an Egyptian deity who was later renamed by the Greeks as Hermopolis in reference to Hermes, the messenger of the Gods who is often represented by the caduceus, or the staff of Ophiucus and the healing serpent.
But to get back closer to the similarities between Sitchin and the LDS. Both claim that sacred knowledge was brought to the America's from the same geographical historical past and nearly if not exactly the same locations.
These are of course only observations on my part and relate little to the 2012 subject that i like to research except to the predictions of several 2012 authors and speculators that Nibiru is the message that the mesoamerican end of an age calendars are pointing to.
At this point in time neither the Mormons nor the beliefs of Zecharia Sitchin are credible to the vast majority in the mainstream. Yet nothing can proove without a doubt that either has the truth about religion or the history of man.
